QASHQAI+2

08/08/2008

The big news for Nissan at the British Motor Show came in the shape of a more practical version of the Qashqai.

With two extra seats in the rear, the aptly named Qashqai+2 will go on sale in August, and made its public debut at the London expo. Prices will range from £18,000 to £24,000, with buyers having a choice of 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engines. Both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive only versions will be available, too.

THE NEW NISSAN MURANO

01/08/2008

The all-new Murano will build on the success of the existing model by offering more style, more refinement, improved performance and greater interior comfort and space.

One of the most distinctive models on the market, the current Murano has carved itself a position as a dynamic and striking crossover which represents a real alternative to road-based SUVs.

The new model continues that trend, thanks to its unique mix of strength, security and all-wheel drive reassurance normally found in an SUV, combined with the dynamic performance and striking appearance of a sporty passenger car.

Externally the second generation Nissan Murano shares obvious DNA with the original and the signature upswept rear side window line is retained, but taken altogether the changes are comprehensive; indeed, every body panel is different.

Inside, there is greater comfort and refinement ? particularly for rear passengers ? as well as more equipment and a greater sense of travelling in ?business class?.

Murano continues to be powered by Nissan?s familiar 3.5-litre VQ engine which has been revised to offer improved performance. Now developing 265PS and 325Nm (240Ib ft) of torque, the 24 valve twin cam V6 provides better performance against the stop watch? and at the fuel pumps.

Improvements have also been made to the Murano?s Xtronic CVT transmission, which represents a major evolution of the technology. Extensively re-engineered with a 20 per cent reduction in friction losses, the new CVT improves fuel economy at the same time as improving shift speeds and responsiveness.

And Murano will be the first model in Nissan?s European range to be available with the company?s Scratch Shield Paint which protects the exterior from marks and scratches typically sustained in everyday life. The paint repairs the marks thanks to a newly developed highly elastic resin that helps prevent the scratches from damaging the base layer paint.

Sales of the new Nissan Murano will begin in Europe in October 2008.

THE NEW NISSAN GT-R

14/12/2007

The all-new 2009 Nissan GT-R is a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of "the ultimate supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere."

Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 producing 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque (estimated). The engine is backed by an all-new, paddle-shifted, GR6-type dual clutch rear transaxle . The new Nissan GT-R is built on an exclusive all-new Premium Midship platform. This new platform enables the use of a world's first independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system, which places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, optimizing weight distribution and maximizing handling capability.

The Nissan GT-R's functional styling utilizes advanced aerodynamics, evoking the lines of a well-trained athlete. GT-R's hybrid body construction combines steel, carbon fiber and die-cast aluminum, and features a low coefficient of drag of 0.27, while achieving high front and rear downforce. GT-R's four-passenger cabin features a sloping "aero blade canopy" roofline and curved C-pillar "sword edge," as well as GT-R's hallmark four-ring taillights, functional rear carbon fiber underbody diffuser, rear spoiler and large, integrated quad exhaust tips.

GT-R's interior balances functionality with a sense of ease and comfort. It features sculpted performance bucket seats for an optimal driving position, a cockpit-style instrument panel with a large center-mounted tachometer and multi-function display - which includes mechanical and driving information, as well as an on-board driving recorder.

Nissan is following in the footsteps of Madonna and Kate Moss

25/05/2007

Nissan is following in the footsteps of Madonna and Kate Moss by launching its own limited edition fashion collection with Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Micra and Micra C+C - the CHIC. Nissan will donate £200 from the sale of every CHIC to the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign. Only 500 CHIC models will be made and 220 Micra CHICs will feature an exclusive body colour - Waterfall Green - to match this year's Fashion Targets logo. 280 Micra C+C CHICs will also be available in either Nero black or silver metallic, except for a one-off Waterfall Green model which one lucky fashionista can win, simply by taking a test drive in any model in the Nissan range before 31 July.

The lucky first 600 people taking a test drive will also walk away with a bottle of designer perfume - a lot of fun behind the wheel and a little dab behind the ears, all for free.

The Micra CHIC is based on the Sport and comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, five doors and the distinctive Waterfall Green exterior body colour. The Micra C+C CHIC is also based on the Sport model and comes with the more agile 1.6-litre petrol engine. Both models come with manual air-conditioning, sporty styling inside and out, alloy-effect protective entry guards and 16-inch graphite coloured alloy wheels as standard. The Micra C+C CHIC also comes with a windstop, so no "Bridget Jones" hair-raising moments to worry about.

Prices for the CHIC start from £10,495 for five-door model rising to £13,250 for the C+C version, a saving of £1000 over the C+C Sport.

Euro NCAP has rated the Nissan Qashqai as the highest ever scoring car for adult occupant protection.

24/05/2007

Euro NCAP has rated the Nissan Qashqai as the highest ever scoring car for adult occupant protection.

The C-segment crossover model received almost maximum points in Euro NCAP's front, side impact and pole crash tests as well as a high score in the child occupant protection rating.

Euro NCAP's secretary general Adrian Hobbs said: "This is a particularly impressive result for this manufacturer since the Qashqai is a new vehicle in this category. Nissan's last entry into the small family class was in 2001."

NCAP also released results for the Kia Carens small MPV, which received four stars in adult occupant protection, due to its result in the side impact test. This is the first time Kia has presented a vehicle in this class.
